BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB Athletic Department has announced plans for its 2007 Annual Scholarship Auction to be held at Fleming's Prime Steakhouse and Wine Bar on Sunday, August 26th at 5:30 p.m.

All proceeds from the auction go to fund student athlete scholarships. The auction has generated more than $100,000 in scholarship aid in each of the past 3 years.

Flemings will be serving a five-course meal with wine selected by the chef. A silent auction will begin at 5:30 followed by dinner and the live auction. Ken Jackson will once again serve as the auctioneer, and many members of the UAB coaching staff will be in attendance.

"This is just a great night for UAB Athletics and something we really look forward to every year," said UAB Athletic Director Brian Mackin. "This has always been a great event, but we are very excited about partnering with Fleming's Steakhouse this year. They have created the perfect environment for us, and have been very gracious in recognizing the importance of UAB Athletics to this community."

"Fleming's Prime Steakhouse & Wine Bar is very proud to be involved with UAB Athletics and within the community. We have dedicated this very special evening to UAB and guests by closing down the restaurant and making this an extraordinary evening for UAB."

Tickets to the event cost $200 per person, and the UAB Athletic Department has announced that they are at operational capacity. A sampling of items to be auctioned off includes vacation packages, spa getaways, exclusive golf packages, signed sports memorabilia, and two customized UAB golf carts.
