UAB Athletics To Host Youth Sports Clinics
Sept. 21, 2005 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB Athletics Department will host eight sports clinics this Saturday, Sept. 24 for the youth of the City of Birmingham. The clinics will be split into two sessions -- the first scheduled from 11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m. and the second from 2:30 p.m.-5:00 p.m. -- with kids having the opportunity to choose one sport for each session. The clinics will be held at various UAB athletics facilities with Blazer coaches and student-athletes providing instruction. "We're excited about our partnership with the City of Birmingham and the opportunity to provide these clinics for the youth in our city," said Judy Sackfield, UAB's Associate Athletics Director who has been coordinating the clinics. "We think this will be a tremendous opportunity for the kids in Birmingham to come to our campus to receive coaching and instruction in various sports as they interact with our coaches and athletes. " Transportation to UAB will be provided from 16 different recreation centers throughout the City of Birmingham. The schedule of the clinics and the sites where they will be held is as follows: Session I (11:00 a.m.-1:30 p.m.)
