Mike Jones joined UAB Athletic Training Staff in 1999 and is the Head Athletic Trainer. Jones was promoted to Assistant Athletic Director in August of 2005. A former Blazer football letterman, Jones joined the UAB program in 1993 when he transferred from Jones Community College in Ellisville, Miss. He was among the first scholarship class in the history of UAB football. A 1996 graduate of UAB in secondary education, Jones earned his Masters Degree in health education while serving as a graduate assistant in the athletic training program in 1997. The following year, he served as a staff athletic trainer at the University of Cincinnati. Jones returned to Birmingham in 1999 as an Associate Athletic Trainer at the UAB Sports Medicine Clinic before returning to the Blazer football program. Jones is Vice-President of the Alabama State Association of Athletic Trainers. PERSONAL: Jones is married to the former Heloise Belarmino of Macon, Ga. They have two daughters: Kerrigan Elise and Mackenzie Grayson. |
