Patrick Sawyer joined the UAB program as an assistant athletic trainer in July 2006. Sawyer comes to UAB after two years at Hoover High School, where he served as the head athletic trainer for the entire athletic department. Sawyer received his master's in athletic training in 2001 while serving as a graduate assistant athletic trainer at the University of Kentucky. A 1998 graduate of Auburn University in health promotion, Sawyer has worked with many different teams over the years. While at Auburn, Sawyer assisted the football, men's basketball, and men's tennis team. He is the assistant athletic trainer with football and supervises baseball. A native of Hanceville, AL, Sawyer is a member of the National Athletic Trainers' Association, the Southeast Athletic Trainers' Association, and the Alabama Athletic Trainers' Association. PERSONAL: Sawyer was married to the former Dawn Wentzell on July 17, 2004. They have one child, Connor James. |
