The UAB women's rifle team competed in their final match of the season as they travelled to Murray, Kentucky to shoot in sectionals. The sectional match is used to determine which teams qualify for the NCAA Championships, to be held March 8-10 at Columbus, Ohio. Both air rifle and smallbore is shot at the sectionals.

In the air rifle category, UAB finished twelfth shooting a team score of 1260 out of a possible 1600. Winning the match was the University of Kentucky "Blue" team with a score of 1546.

Freshman Carrie Underwood of Alabaster, Ala. has been an outstanding shooter for the rifle team this year. She has lead the team in many events including this one, shooting a 347.

Other Blazer scores include, Selena Bullock (326), Amanda Leach (307), Ashley Fulmer (280).

UAB does not compete in smallbore.

This shoot wraps up the Blazers season. Next year's season will start in October.
