Lisa Riddell is in her seventh season as head coach of the UAB synchronized swimming team. In the last two seasons, Riddell has guided five swimmers (Hallie Todd, Sara Petrov (2), Morgan Clark and Meryl Grandia) to All-America status.

In 2007, Riddell led the Blazers to a second place finish in the Southern Regionals and a fourth place effort at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals. In addition to her team's success in the pool in 2007, five of her student-athletes received academic recognition at the U.S. Collegiate Nationals.

Riddell led the Blazers to a fifth place finish at the U.S. National Championship in 2006, a year after guiding the squad to a fourth place finish. At the U.S. Collegiate Championship, Riddell's team earned third place marks with a score of 95.500 after the team finished second at both the Southern Regionals and the Stanford Invitational.

In addition to her team's fourth place finish at the U.S. National Championship, the Blazers also racked up victories against Incarnate Word, Arizona and Florida, while coming in second to eventual national champion Stanford.

In 2005, Riddell guided a combined four swimmers to All-America status as Petrov, Clarke, Stephanie Jackson and Stacey Jackson all garnered the honor with Riddell's leadership.

Riddell enjoyed a successful inaugural campaign at UAB in 2002-03 as she guided the team to a third-place finish at the U.S. Collegiate Championships and a fourth place finish at the U.S. National Championships. The finish at the nationals was UAB's highest to date at the event. In addition, Riddell led UAB to three meet victories during the regular season.

Riddell arrived at UAB after serving four seasons (1999-2002) as head coach of the SunCoast WaterWorks club team in Clearwater, Fla. During her time with SunCoast Waterworks, Riddell qualified three swimmers to participate in the National Junior Team tryouts, coached the winning duet at the National Age Group Championships and consistently placed teams, trios and duets in the top 10 at the National Age Group Championships. In addition, she implemented educational and recruitment programs to local area elementary and middle schools.

She also assisted with several synchronized swimming club teams in Kansas City.

An accomplished athlete herself, Riddell was a seven-year member of the U.S. National Team. While a member of the team, the squad brought home a World Championship and a FINA World Cup Championship.

Riddell also swam with the Walnut Creek Aquanuts club team. The squad won the Senior National Team Championships in 1985 through 1989. She also swam with the trio that won the Senior National Trio Championship four consecutive years (1985-1988). Riddell also was the solo and duet champion in the French, Spanish and Rome Open during her time with the Aquanuts.

In the summer of 2006, Riddell served as head coach to the Second National Team. Her team beat Canada to come in first place at the U.S. Open in Orlando, Fla. after winning the combo team routine, free team routine, tech routine and the solo event.

In the summer of 2005, she helped lead the same team to wins over Canada in the combo team and the solo events as an assistsant coach.
