Blazers Take Down Incarnate Word

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB synchronized swimming team defeated Incarnate Word by a score of 86-76 on Saturday afternoon at Bell Aquatics Center. The Blazers captured first place in each of the four different events during the meet. "I'm real proud of the way we did today," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "I thought we were a little better than last weekend and we're just trying to keep that momentum going." The meet kicked off with the trio event where UAB's Stephanie Jackson, Stacey Jackson and Megan Kelly took the top spot with a score of 87.833. Incarnate Word's Natalie Chase, Jennifer Holmquist and Danielle Kramer placed second with a score of 86.167. The Blazers' Morgan Clarke, Hallie Todd and Frances Halloran took third in the event. In the duet competition, Clarke along with Sara Petrov posted a score of 89.000 to capture first place, while Stephanie and Stacey Jackson's 87.167 placed them third. Andrea Dash and Vanessa Dash also competed together, tallying a score of 83.667. In the solo event, UAB's Petrov narrowly edged out UIW's Kramer. Petrov finished with a score of 90.333, just ahead of Kramer's 89.833. The meet concluded with the team competition where the Blazers squad of Clarke, Halloran, Stephanie Jackson, Stacey Jackson, Kelly, Petrov, Todd and Amanda Weinstein took first place with a score of 92.333.
The Blazers return to action next Saturday, Feb. 19 when they travel to Palo Alto, Calif. for a matchup with Stanford. The Blazers then head to Tucson, Ariz. on Sunday, Feb. 20 to face the Arizona Wildcats. |
