Synchronized Swimming Team Takes Second At Keuka College Meet

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. - The UAB synchronized swimming team took second at a six-team meet hosted by Keuka College. Canisus College won the meet, posting an overall score of 101. UAB scored 90, Keuka College was third with 73 overall points, Cornell placed fourth with 59 points, Nebraska scored 24.5 points to place fifth and Penn State was sixth with 16 total points. Bogdana Zareva took the top spot in the solo event for the Blazers, scoring an 89.667. Zareva also teamed with Amanda Haeuser to place second in the duet event with a score of 89.000. Stephanie Jackson and Stacey Jackson placed third in the duet event for UAB, posting a score of 87.167. The trio event saw Stephanie Jackson, Stacey Jackson and Stacy Leiker take third place with a score of 86.000.
The UAB team of Zareva, Leiker, Haeuser, Stacey Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Luna Aguilu, Kelli Dickerson and Kara Morgan took second in the team routine, scoring an 89.500. The Blazer squad of Hannah Freer, Kristen Kramer, Megan Kelly, Sarah Pikal and Moraine Ruddick placed fourth in the team routine with a score of 84.417.
"We are disappointed to lose to Canisus, but I think we will be more motivated now," said UAB head coach Lisa Riddell. "We had some strong swims today. We are looking forward to returning home and working hard as we head into regionals." UAB next travels to Gainesville, Fla. to compete in the Southern Regionals Saturday. |
