Synchronized Swimming Wins South Collegiate Regionals

The UAB synchronized swimming team took first place at the South Collegiate Regionals held in Williamsburg, Va. UAB grabbed top spot in every event in the four team meet. William and Mary, Richmond, and Mary Washington rounded off the four teams. In figures, Bogdana Zareva (80.193) and Sarah Pikal (72.981) placed first in group A and group B respectively. In the solo routines, Zareva placed first for the Blazers, scoring a 90.0. Placing second was Amanda Haeuser of Richmand, scoring a 87.933. UAB's Luna Aguilu and Rossitza Loukanova scored a 86.333 in the duet routines to take top spot over UAB's Kelli Dickerson and Stacy Leiker (85.467). The trio routines saw Aguilu, Loukanova and Moraine Ruddick of UAB take first place, scoring 85.467 with Richmond's Haeuser, Courtney Sullivan and Lauren Gustafson taking second, scoring 83.400. In the team routines, the Blazers placed first with a score of 90.467.
The Blazers will compete next at the U.S. South Zones in Dallas, Texas on Mar. 8-12.
