Synchronized Swimming Places Eighth In The Team Final Competition At The U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships

OXFORD, Ohio - The UAB synchronized swimming team placed eighth overall in the Team Final competition at the U.S. National Synchronized Swimming Championships hosted at the Miami University Aquatic Center. The UAB team of Jessica Brown, Kelli Dickerson, Amanda Haeuser, Jennifer Holmquist, Stacey Jackson, Stephanie Jackson, Stacy Leiker and Bogdana Zareva posted a score of 90.917 to capture the eighth spot.

The finish marks the second consecutive for UAB in the Team Final competition. The Blazers also grabbed an eighth place finish in 2001. UAB took 11th place in the Team Final competition in 2000.

The Santa Clara Aqumaids won gold in all three events at the Nationals, placing first in the solo, duet and team competitions.

Saturday's finals will be broadcast on a tape-delay basis on HDNet, a high definition satellite channel available on DirecTV and Dish Network.

More than 150 athletes were on hand vying for national titles in the solo, duet and team events. Top athletes advance to the 2002 National Team Trials, May 3-5 in Columbus, Ohio. The Nationals represents the top synchronized swimming teams from all levels of competition.
