Blazers Capture 2nd Place at Stanford Invitational

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB synchronized swimming team captured 2nd place at the Stanford Invitational this weekend in Palo Alto, Calif. The Blazers tallied 59 points, behind Stanford's 90 and ahead of the University of Arizona, which scored 32.

The meet kicked off with the duet competition, as Morgan Clarke and Sara Petrov finished 3rd with a score of 85. Teammates Megan Kelly and Mariana Vigneron were right behind in the 4th spot, tallying 83 points during their swim.

In the solo event, UAB's Petrov helped the Blazers cause by finishing 2nd with a score of 88.500. Maria Garcia also added to the total, capturing a 3rd place finish with a score of 87.500.

The meet concluded with the team competition where the Blazers squad of Kelly, Garcia, Vigneron, Andrea Dash, Clarke, Petrov, Hallie Todd and Frances Holloran finished 2nd with an impressive score of 90.000.

The Blazers return to action next Saturday, Feb. 18 when they travel to Gainesville to face the Florida Gators.
