BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Luna Aguilu, a senior on the UAB synchronized swimming team, has qualified to compete at the Pan American Games, which will be held Aug. 3-10, in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic.

Aguilu and her partner, Charyl Hernandez, placed third in the duet competition, with a score of 79.666, at the Central American and Caribbean Games XIX held Nov. 24 - Dec. 7 in El Salvador. The top three finishers at the event advanced to compete at the Pan Am Games.

Aguilu and the Blazer synchronized swimming team open the season Wednesday with a duel meet at Florida.
