Andy Eggerth, who qualified for the NCAA Championships in five events from 1998-00, joined the Blazers' staff in January of 2004. Eggerth came from the National Sports Center in Blaine, Minn., where he has been track and field director for the last two years. Prior to that, Eggerth held the position of sprint and hurdles coach at Syracuse University, where he earned his masters degree in exercise science in 2002. As a member of the Division II Bemidji State (Minn.) University track team he was named the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference Athlete of the Year in 2000 and set 16 school records in addition to one conference record. He competed in the 200 and 400-meter dash, the 55-meter hurdles, the 4x400 relay and the pole vault. Eggerth is married to UAB's volunteer assistant coach, Agne Eggerth. |
