LANDOVER, Md. - The UAB women's track and field team opened up their indoor season placing two top ten finishers in Saturday afternoon's Terrapin/Potomac Valley USATF Invitational at the Prince George's Sports and Learning Center.

Freshman Adrienne Duke (Hueytown, Ala.) placed fifth overall in the high jump with a 1.57 meter mark.

In the 60 meter hurdles, freshman Theresa Smith (Montgomery, Ala.) placed ninth overall with a time of 9.04.

In other events, senior Carla Kelly (Auburn, Ala.) finished 14th (2:27.31) in the 800 meter run, while junior Donna Pucke (Cincinnati, Ohio) finished 21st (2:35.60). Freshman Elace Minnifield (Birmingham, Ala.) ran a 1:00.69 to place 17th overall in the 400 meter dash.

In the DMR event, the Blazers captured seventh spot with a time of 13:26.24. In the 4x400 meter relay, UAB finished ninth with a time of 4:07.48.

The Blazers will take a couple weeks off before competing again at the UNC Invite in Chapel Hill, N.C. on Jan. 25-26.
