Women's Track And Field Finishes Strong In Running Events At Stan Lyons Invitational

The UAB women's track and field team finished strong in the running events as they competed at the Stan Lyons Open hosted by Butler University this past Saturday. This meet did not tally team scores.

In the 60-meter dash, senior Yolanda Cooper placed third overall and second amongst college competitors with a time of 7.60.

Senior Nakeshia Jackson placed sixth overall and fourth amongst college competitors in the 200-meter dash with a time of 25.95. She also placed third overall and second amongst college competitors in the long jump with a distance of 17'02.00.

In the mile run, freshman Andrea Burdett finished 12th overall and seventh amongst college competitors with a time of 5:18.00.

In the 800-meter run, the Blazers had three finishers in the top-15. Sophomore Donna Pucke finished sixth overall and fifth amongst college competitors with a time of 2:22.10. Burdett finished 7th amongst college competitors with a time of 2:23.30. Junior Carla Kelly finished13th amongst college competitors with a time of 2:26.00.

In the 5,000-meter run, sophomore Amanda Kara placed fifth overall and third amongst college competitors with a time of 18:56.62.

The Blazers will compete again on Saturday, January 27th at the Purple Tiger Invitational in Baton Rouge, La.
