HOUSTON, Texas --- The UAB track and field team finished 12th at the Conference USA Championships with several outstanding individual performances.

Sophomore Theresa Smith finished third in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.61, a new personal best and fourth fastest in UAB history for indoor. Smith beat her preliminary score by three-one-hundredths of a second, to set her new career best.

Senior Dina Katsoulis finished 15th in the shot put competition with a throw of 38-10 ½, a new personal best and a new school record. Teammate Donna Pucke finished fifth in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:17.08.

Junior Amanda Kara finished 17th in the 3000-meters with a time of 10:31.98, a new personal best. Kara also competed in the mile run, finishing with a time of 5:16.69, a season best and fourth fastest in school history.

UAB finished fifth in the women's 4X400 meter relay in 3:54.18, the second fastest in school history.
