TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ----- The UAB track and field team continued to impress in the second day of the Alabama Relays here on Friday. The Blazers had two second-place finishes in as many events.

Judy Shepherd finished in second in the heptathlon, scoring 4,714 points, 18 ahead of third-place finisher LaToya McBride of Ole Miss and 220 points behind the winner, the Lady Rebels' Antisha Anderson. UAB's freshman Tiffany Parker finished ininth for the Blazers with 3,718 points.

UAB was also impressive in the 10,000-meters as senior Amanda Kara placed second with a time of 37:49.37, while Jennifer Thompson was fourth after running the event in 38:49.65.

The Blazers will continue to participate in the Alabama Relays, as they continue until Sunday.
