TUSCALOOSA,Ala - Junior Meredith George of the UAB women's track and field team finished in a tie for third at the outdoor Alabama Relays with a jump of 1.70-meters (5'7"). Mary Varga of Akron took top spot with a jump of 1.75-meter (5'8.75").

Running a personal best on the year, sophomore Amanda Kara finished the 5,000-meter run in a time of 19:07.30, putting her in 19th place.

Freshman Andrea Burdett finished in 20th place in the 3,000-meter run with a time of 10:57.03.

Carla Kelly finished in 35th place with a time of 5:01.76 in the 1,500-meter run while teammate Donna Pucke finished in 37th place with a time of 5:04.33. Cara Bates finished in 51st place with a time of 5:56.53.

In the 800-meter run, Karen Werner finished in 54th place with a time of 2:24.75.

In the 4x800-meter relay, UAB finished ninth with a time of 9:45.90.

The Blazers will continue their outdoor season on March 31 as they travel to Memphis, Tenn. for the Big Cat Classic.
