DES MOINES, Iowa --- The UAB track and field team completed day one of the Drake Relays here Thursday with only one competitor in action.

Junior Amanda Kara ran the 10,000-meter run with a time of 39:05.20 to finish 23rd overall.

"Amanda had a good run today for the horrible weather conditions," said assistant coach Jennifer Robeson. "It's her second best run in the 10,000 meters, which will help in her preparation for conference."

The Blazers will compete in the 4X200 and 4X400 meter relays Friday.
