BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB track and field team completed competition here Saturday, at the Samford Twilight. The Blazers finished the meet with four season bests.

Sophomore Judy Shepherd finished second in the 400-meter hurdles with a season-best time of 1:05.96. Shepherd also ran the 100-meter hurdles finishing in fourth place (14.91). Teammate Crystal Hunter finished the 200-meters in third place with a time of 25.35, a season-best. She also ran in the 100-meter dash, finishing fifth overall (12.48).

Freshman Olivia Ross-Hurst competed in the 800-meter run with a time of 2:29.27, a season-best and in ninth place. Ross-Hurst completed the 100-meter hurdles in fifth place, with a time of 17.85, followed by teammates Jan Parker in sixth (18.83) and Anna Parker in seventh (19.40). Jan Parker finished the 400-meter hurdles in a season-best time of 1:13.57 and in fourth place. Fellow Blazer Anna Parker finished in sixth place in the 400-meter hurdles with a time of 1:14.40.

In the last day of competition at the Drake Relays, the UAB relay team had a bad first exchange in the sprint medleys and was disqualified from the race.

"We were running a good race," said assistant coach Jennifer Robeson. "We just had a bad first exchange."

Next up for the Blazers is the Bulldog Invite hosted by the University of Georgia, on May 3.
