CHARLOTTE, N.C. --- The UAB track and field team finished 13th here Saturday at the Conference USA Outdoor Championships.

Elace Minnifield led the Blazers with her seventh place finish in the 400-meter dash finals. Minnifield finished with a career-best time of 55.44 and second-fastest in UAB history.

The UAB relay team completed the 1600-meter relay in sixth place with a time of 3:48.56. Junior Amanda Kara ended the 5,000-meter run with a time of 18:22.89, a season-best and in 15th place.

Senior Dina Katsoulis had a season-best performance in the shot put competition with a toss of 36-8 and in 15th place. This marks Katsoulis in the UAB record books with the second-longest throw in school history. Following Katsoulis, teammate Christy Mixon finished 16th, with a throw of 30-0 . Blazer Judy Shepherd finished the women's triple jump in 15th place with a leap of 35-9 .
