BATON ROUGE, La. --- The UAB track and field team competed Saturday against a strong field at LSU's Purple and Gold Classic with junior Amanda Kara leading the Blazers with a second place finish in the women's 2000-meter run with a time of 10:34.98. UAB also took third place in the women's distance medley with a time of 12:41.06.

In the women's 800-meter run, Senior Donna Pucke came in sixth with a time of 2:24.48, a new personal best. Theresa Smith placed in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.98. Junior Doelle Miller finished 12th in the women's 400-meter dash (1:00.32).

The Blazers finished seventh in the 4X400 meter relay with a time of 4:03.65 while Judy Shephard placed seventh in the women's triple jump with a distance of 37-10.

Next up for the Blazers is the Gator Invitational on Feb. 9 in Gainesville, Fla.
