BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB indoor track and field team continues their 2004 season as they travel to Boone, N.C. to participate in the Appalachian Invitational held at the Holmes Center on the campus of Appalachian State University.

The Blazers hope to build off of a successful showing at the Niswonger Foundation Invitational, last weekend, where the team captured the distance medley relay and posted nine other top-10 finishes.

UAB will compete Friday, Jan. 30 and Saturday, Jan. 31 against some of the best competition in the Southeast including High Point, Western Carolina, North Carolina A&T, host Appalachian State, and fellow Conference USA foe Charlotte.

The meet will begin Friday afternoon with events scheduled from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Competition will resume Saturday at 9 a.m. with the meet concluding at 3:30 p.m. A complete schedule and results will be available on the Appalachian State athletic web site at www.goasu.com.
