UAB Assistant Track Coach to Compete Against World's Fastest

UAB assistant track coach Agne Eggerth will be competing March 5-7 at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics in Budapest, Hungary. Eggerth, currently ranked 44th in the world in the 100-meters in the latest International Association of Athletics Federations rankings, will be competing in the 60-meter dash representing her home country of Lithuania. Other competitors expected to compete in the 60-meter dash include Gail Devers and Torri Edwards of the United States, Christine Arron of France, Yuliya Tabakova of Russia, and Kim Gevaert of Belgium. These six women have all run 7.12 seconds or better and have posted six of the top eight times world wide this indoor season. This will be the third time Eggerth has competed in the World Indoor Championships. Last year she qualified for the semi-finals in this event.
Eggerth will go on to compete for Lithuania in the Olympic Games later this summer in Athens, Greece. She is currently the Lithuanian national record holder in the 50m, 55m, 60m, 100m and 200-meter dashes.
