UAB assistant track coach Agne Eggerth advanced to the semi-finals in the 60-meter dash for the second time in as many years Friday at the IAAF World Indoor Championships in Athletics in Budapest, Hungary.

Eggerth, currently ranked 44th in the world in the 100-meters in the latest International Association of Athletics Federations rankings, became the final qualifier for the semi-finals by turning in a time of 7.42 seconds in the fifth heat of the opening round. A time of 7.41 seconds in the semi-finals gave the Blazers first year coach a 22nd place finish in the event.

Gail Devers of the United States won the gold medal with a season-best 7.08 seconds, beating Kim Gevaert of Belgium by 0.04 seconds.

This was the third time Eggerth competed in the World Indoor Championships. Eggerth will compete for Lithuania in the Olympic Games later this summer in Athens, Greece. She is currently the Lithuanian national record holder in the 50m, 55m, 60m, 100m and 200-meter dashes.
