March 23, 2004

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB continues its 2004 outdoor season by heading to Gainesville, Fla., for the 61st-annual Florida Relays on March 24-27. The four-day event, which will conclude Saturday evening, features some of the top collegiate open and high school athletes in the country.

"The Florida Relays is one of the premier meets in the US," said UAB head coach Ray Stanfield. "We had a very good meet there last year, but the talent we take to the meet this year should really make a difference. I look forward to getting Petra Ivanova back on track and adding on to the solid performance that we had at the Alabama Relays."

The Blazers registered an impressive performance at last week's 2004 Alabama Relays as UAB finished the four-day competition in third place at the Sam Bailey Track and Field Center. UAB accumulated 42 total team points over the course of the weekend and trailed only Alabama's 54 points and Western Michigan's 52.
