GAINESVILLE, Fla. --- The UAB track and field team participated in first two events in its first day of competition at the Florida Relays here Thursday.

The Blazers were impressive in the 5000-meters as three UAB runners placed in the top-12. Senior Amanda Kara finished in seventh with a time of 17:55.47. Freshman Emry McKay was ninth finishing in 18:01.75, while another freshman, Jennifer Thompson placed 12th overall, recording a time of 18:16.07.

In the 1500-meters, UAB freshmen Ryanne Fortney and Elizabeth Ambrus finished 15th and 16th respectively. Fortney posted a time of 4:49.67, while Ambrus was right behind here at 4:49.95.

UAB will continue to compete in here as the Florida Relays continue on Friday and Saturday.
