BIRMINGHAM, Ala. --- The UAB track and field team heads to Gainesville, Fla., this weekend to compete in the Florida Relays, hosted by the University of Florida.

Competition will begin Thursday, March 27, with the decathlon and heptathlon events. The meet will conclude Saturday March 29, with the team relays.

The Blazers are coming off a successful showing at the Alabama Relays this past weekend. Sophomore Theresa Smith finished the 100-meter hurdles in second place with a career-best time of 13.73. Junior Amanda Kara finished the 10,000-meters with a time of 37:549.79 and a third place finish.

Freshman Olivia Ross-Hurst competed in her first collegiate heptathlon finishing in 11th place, ninth collegiately. Ross-Hurst recorded seven personal bests to complete the event.
