Blazers Travel To Troy State For Coach O Invitational
April 2, 2004 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB is back in the state of Alabama this weekend as the Blazers will participate in the Coach O Invitational hosted by Troy State. The meet will be held at the Jesse H. Colley Track on the Troy State campus. "After the two weeks at large invitational relay meets, it will be nice to go to a more low-key meet at Troy State," said UAB head coach Ray Stanfield. "We'll have a chance to look at some girls in their secondary events as well as some relay changes, things that we need to do in order to get ready for the conference championships." Schools competing in the meet are Auburn, Southern Miss, University of New Orleans, Alabama A&M, Samford, Fort Valley State, Bevill State, Birmingham-Southern, Florida A&M, Jacksonville State, Xavier (New Orleans), Wallace State and Troy State.
The Blazers had a historical competition at the Florida Relays last weekend as UAB broke four schools records on the weekend. The Blazers recorded school-best performances in the 4x400-meter relay (3:45.45), the distance medley relay (11:49.96), the sprint medley relay (3:57.05) and the shuttle hurdle relay (58.25).
