BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB will be at Ole Miss again this Saturday for the Ole Miss Open. The Blazers placed third in the Ole Miss Invitational on April 17-18.

"This weekend's meet at Ole Miss plays perfectly into our training plans for conference," said UAB head coach Ray Stanfield. "The meet is going to be a very good one with host Ole Miss and Alabama from the SEC, as well as Tulane and Southern Miss from Conference USA. Two weeks out from conference, we want to relax and run fast and the competition this weekend will be perfect for that."

The Blazers' 4x100-meter relay team qualified for regionals and won the event by running a 45.61 in the Samford Twilight last weekend. UAB won three other events in the meet. In the 800-meters, Genoah Collins set a school record and won the event by running a time of 2:11.96. The 4x400-meter relay team tallied a time of 3:48.21 to best the field. UAB's Judy Shepherd also set a personal best in the triple jump, taking the title with a jump of 11.80 meters.
