Box Score

HONOLULU (AP) - Shernard Long had 20 points as Georgia State defeated UAB 74-63 Friday night in the second round of the Nike Festival.

Long hit five 3-pointers as the Panthers (9-1) earned their second second-half comeback victory in as many days. The Blazers (5-4) dropped their first game of the three-day round-robin tournament.

Thomas Terrell had 16 points and 13 rebounds for Georgia State. Darryl Cooper chipped in with 13 points, including two 2-pointers.

After winning their tournament opener Friday after trailing by 11 to host Hawaii with under 10 minutes to play, the Panthers nearly repeated the feat against the Blazers.

UAB led 46-35 with 12:18 left to play after Will Campbell scored from close-range and was fouled. Campbell missed the free-throw and Georgia State's rally began.

Long hit the third of his 3-pointers at 11:21, and his last at 7:32 to tie the score, 50-50.

With 5:02 left in the contest, Lamont McIntosh hit one of two free-throws to give the Panthers a 55-54 lead, their first since the 11:34 mark of the first half. Georgia State never looked back, sealing the game at the free-throw line.

David Walker had 20 points for the Blazers in defeat.
