Saturday's UAB Men's Basketball Game Is Taylor Twins Bobblehead Doll Night
Feb. 24, 2005 BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB will celebrate Saturday night's men's basketball clash with Tulane by handing out Donell and Ronell Taylor bobblehead dolls to the first 4,000 fans through the Bartow Arena gates. The contest is slated for a 7:30 p.m. CT tip-off. Gates open at 6:30 p.m. CT. The bobble head doll is the second of two dolls to be given away this season. Mike Anderson bobblehead dolls were given away on Jan. 29 during the USF game which produced a UAB win. Previous bobblehead dolls included long-time men's basketball coach and athletic director Gene Bartow, Blazer legends Jerome Mincy, Steve Mitchell and Oliver Robinson, and Blaze, UAB's mascot. Tickets for Saturday's game are on sale and available by calling the UAB ticket office at (205) 975-UAB1. UAB (17-9, 7-6 Conference USA) is coming off a 64-62 road win at Saint Louis Wednesday. Saturday's contest against the Green Wave will be the second meeting between the two teams this season. Tulane's Taylor Rochestie hit a buzzer-beating three-pointer as time expired in overtime to beat UAB, 76-73, on Jan. 19 in New Orleans, La. Saturday's game can be heard live on the Blazer Sports Network which airs in Birmingham on WYDE, 101.1 FM.
