Frank Holmes Signs National Letter Of Intent To Play Basketball At UAB

April 15, 2004

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- Frank Holmes, regarded as one of the top power forwards in the Southeast, has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend UAB, head men's basketball coach Mike Anderson announced here Thursday.

Holmes becomes the second signee for the men's basketball team, joining 6-2, 197-pound guard Paul Delaney out of Chamblee, Georgia.

Holmes, a 6-9, 210-pound forward, was a four-year letterwinner at Fayette-Ware High School in Somerville, Tenn. He averaged approximately 17 points and 12 boards as a senior, while leading his team to the Class AA sectionals in the Tennessee state tournament. For his effort, Holmes was named to the Memphis Commercial Appeal's All-Metro Team in 2003 and 2004.

In addition, Holmes was named a Nike All-American and attended the elite Nike Camp last summer. He was also a starting member of the Memphis YOMCA AAU National Champion team

Holmes is listed as the 35th top forward in the Southeast according to Rivals.com, while the Commercial Appeal ranks him as one of the top four seniors in the state of Tennessee.

Holmes chose UAB over several schools, including Penn State, Ole Miss and Memphis.
