UAB Football Wraps Up Last Two-a-Day Practice
Aug. 18, 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team went through its last two-a-day practice of the preseason on Monday. The Blazers worked on 11-on-11 drills and began preparations for the season opener against Tulsa. Following the morning session, UAB head coach Neil Callaway was not happy with the effort, and expected to see a better performance in the afternoon. "We had a hard time getting going again," said Callaway. "Trying to get the Tulsa game plan in probably distracted the team somewhat. It was an average day." The head coach did not single out anyone in particular but he stressed a need for the team's overall improvement. "We got to make sure everyone is playing full speed and getting after it, " said Callaway. "It was a hard day to get everything going like you want." The Blazers will take a day off as fall classes begin on Tuesday and resume practice Wednesday afternoon. On Saturday, Aug. 23, Coach Callaway and the rest of the Blazers' football team will be hosting the second annual "Breakfast with the Blazers" fan day. The breakfast will start at 9 am and is free for all UAB football season ticket holders and UAB students; $5 for all other guests.
