Blazers Wrap Up Preparations For Thursday's Game At Houston
Oct. 7, 2008
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB football team went through a light 12-period practice that lasted just over an hour Tuesday afternoon, putting in its final preparations for Thursday night's contest at Houston. For the second week in a row, the Blazers have altered their practice routine to accommodate the Thursday game. Tuesday's practice session was more like a typical Thursday practice during a week where the football game is on Saturday. UAB head coach Neil Callaway was pleased with the work that the team accomplished today and is looking forward to Houston. "Today was a good, normal Thursday-type practice, although it is Tuesday," said Callaway. "We rehearsed the game plan for Houston. I thought we got a lot of good work in today." Callaway also announced that the team captains for Thursday will be RB Caleb Dyck (Special Teams), DB Kevin Sanders (Defense) and RB Rashaud Slaughter (Offense). Also for the second time in as many weeks, the Blazers will be playing on national television. The UAB vs. Houston contest will be televised live on CBS College Sports, with kickoff scheduled for 7 p.m. CT at Robertson Stadium. "I think the guys are excited about being on TV again," said Callaway. "Hopefully, we will come out and play as hard as we did last week, but be more diligent in doing the little things that we need to do to be successful." In addition to Thursday's game being televised on CBS College Sports, it will also be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network. It can be heard locally on WWMM 100.5 FM radio in Birmingham.
