BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB's Swayze Waters has been named the Conference USA Special Teams Player-of-the-Week after his outstanding performance in last Thursday's game at Houston.

The senior from Jackson, Miss. and Conference USA's busiest kicker hit both of his field goal attempts, one of 50 yards, and he averaged 50.6 yards on eight punts against the Cougars. The 50-yard field goal was the fourth 50-plus yard three-pointer of his career. He is now 10-of-13 this season and 41-of-53 overall for his career.

His net punting average vs. UH was 51.8 as the Cougars returned three punts for -9 yards. He had five kickoffs and Houston returned those for just an 18-yard average. He has taken over the league lead in punting average at 44.9 yards and now ranks 10th nationally.
