Blazers Back At Practice Tuesday

Nov. 11, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. -- The UAB football team practiced for nearly two hours in full pads Tuesday, as the Blazers continue to build toward Saturday's Conference USA matchup at Tulane.

The Blazers and the Green Wave will meet at 2 p.m. CT Saturday at the Louisiana Superdome.

After a typical off day on Monday, UAB worked on game planning for Tulane in Tuesday's practice session. UAB head coach Neil Callaway said the extra preparation time, created by last week's open date, has been productive.

"Today was a good practice," Callaway said. "I thought the tempo and the intensity was good. Sunday we came out here and worked on Tulane stuff, and I think we had a lot of carry over."

The Blazers and Green Wave enter Saturday's contest with matching 2-7 records and identical 1-4 marks in conference play. The teams are also even at 3-3 in the all-time series after UAB earned a 26-21 win last season in Birmingham.

"We're totally focused on Tulane and preparing for them," Callaway said. "Tulane, I'm sure, will be ready to play. They're a team a lot like us. I think it will be a matter of who has the strongest will, who wants to win and who wants to build some momentum for next year."

Saturday's game will be carried on the Blazers ISP Sports Network. It can be heard locally on WWMM 100.5 FM radio in Birmingham.
