Men's Soccer Contact: Aaron Jordan

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- The UAB men's soccer team released its 2003 spring schedule, according to an announcement made by head coach Mike Getman. The Blazers will play six games in the next two months on West Campus Field.

The Blazers have already played one game when they travelled to Dallas, Texas to take on the Dallas Burn of the MLS. In what was a hard fought battle, UAB dropped that game by a score of 2-0.

"I think this is a good schedule which will help us get ready for the upcoming season," Getman said. "We play several local teams and they will present us with a tough challenge. Although I was not pleased with the outcome, I was happy with the way we played against the Dallas Burn."

The Blazers will open the spring season on West Campus Field when they host the UAB Challenge on Sunday, March 16. UAB will face crosstown rival Birmingham-Southern at 1 p.m., followed by a 3:15 p.m. match against Georgia State. On Saturday, March 22, the Blazers will play another two games when they take on Mobile (2 p.m.) and the University of Montevallo (4:30 p.m.).

The team will then play two more games in April. On April 12, UAB will host a 7-on-7 tournament which will last all day. The Blazers will close out the spring season on Saturday, April 19, at 4 p.m. when they play the annual Alumni game on West Campus Field.

The fall schedule is due to come out on the week of March 3.
