HATTIESBURG, Miss. ------ The UAB men's tennis team turned in impressive results against three teams here Friday at the Southern Miss Fall Invitational.



The Blazers won nine of the 13 singles matches they played in competition versus players from Southern Miss, Nicholls State and Southeastern Louisiana. In doubles, UAB was victorious in two of three matches.

The Blazers' trio of Alex Emery, Daniel Moser and Dan Cornei all went 2-0 in their singles matches. Brian Ly, Tyrone Ewels and Thomas Petrich were 1-1 on the day. John Hollimon fell in his only singles match.

In doubles, Ly and Emery were winners over the Southern Miss duo of Domagoj Anic and Patricio Alvarado, 8-1. Ewels and Moser also posted a victory, downing the USM team of Andrew Poole and Jan Burmeister, 8-4.

Play will continue Saturday in the event.
