Cornei, Petrich Win In Doubles At Crimson Tide Fall Invite

TUSCALOOSA, Ala. ----- UAB's Dan Cornei and Thomas Petrich won a pair of doubles matches Friday to highlight the Blazers' play at the Crimson Tide Fall Invitational. Due to the inclement weather in the area, play was slowed considerably throughout the day. Singles action was postponed until Saturday. Cornei and Petrich were winners in their first match of the tournament, winning in the "B" division doubles. The Blazer tandem defeated Jacksonville State's Chriws Duke and Bryan Kenyon by an 8-3 score. They later downed the Samford team of Michael Browder and Richard Walsh, 8-6, to advance to Saturday's quarterfinals. Also in "B division doubles, the Blazers' Tyrone Ewels and Daniel Moser fell 8-5 to Southern Miss' Jan Burmeister and Andrew Poole. In "A" doubles, UAB's Alex Emery and Brian Ly were beaten by the Memphis duo of Benny Fischer and Jordan Smith, 8-5.
