BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB freshman men's tennis player Dan Cornei has been named the Conference USA Player of the Week after helping the Blazers to a perfect 3-0 mark last weekend at the C-USA Shootout in Hattiesburg, Miss.

Cornei, from Burlington, Ontario, Canada, won three singles matches and two of three doubles matches as the Blazers swept past conference foes East Carolina, UCF and Southern Mississippi. Cornei now has a record of 5-0 in singles play thus far through the team's five dual matches this season.

UAB is off to a 4-1 start thus far and plays host to Jacksonville State next Tuesday, March 4.
