BIRMINGHAM, Ala. ----- UAB's Brian Ly has been named to the All-Conference USA second-team, according to an announcement Tuesday by the league office.

Ly, from Sydney, Australia, was one of six players tabbed to the second team. He made an immediate impact with the Blazers this spring as he compiled a 11-3 singles record while playing primarily the No. 4 and 5 positions in the lineup.

He and doubles partner, Hans Spangenberg, were a strong force for UAB as well as they combined for a 11-1 record at the No. 1 and 2 doubles positions.

UAB concluded the 2008 dual match season with a 12-3 record. The Blazers were ranked No. 72 nationally Monday in the most recent ITA (Intercollegiate Tennis Association)/FILA rankings.
