Daryl Oliver begins his sixth season as an assistant coach at UAB after spending two seasons at Virginia with Audra Smith.

Oliver serves as recruiting coordinator for UAB, but has a wide range of duties with the Blazers. He also contributes to scouting and coaches the guards. In addition, Oliver plays an integral role in the development of UAB's offensive and defensive strategies.

While Oliver was at UVa from 2002-04, the Cavaliers went 30-30 overall, including an appearance in the 2003 NCAA Midwest Regional.

The former University of Richmond standout spent the 2001-02 season as an assistant coach at Western Kentucky, helping the Hilltopper women to a 16-14 record and a second-place finish in the East Division of the Sun Belt Conference, en route to a Women's National Invitational Tournament berth. Oliver joined the Western Kentucky coaching staff in August of 2001.

The Faison, N.C., native graduated from Richmond in 1998 with a bachelor of arts degree in speech communication. A four-year letterwinner for the Spiders, Oliver served as team captain for two seasons and earned team defensive player-of-the-year honors in 1996 and 1997. As a senior, he led Richmond to the Colonial Athletic Association Tournament championship and was named tourney MVP.

Following graduation, Oliver served as camp coordinator for the Debbie Ryan Basketball Camps while substitute teaching for the Charlottesville City Schools for three years. Additionally, Oliver was the head coach of the UVa women's basketball club team for the 2001 season, guiding the squad to a 24-5 record as well as the East Coast Division Regular Season and Tournament championships.

Oliver and his wife, Andrea, were married on June 2, 2007. The couple welcomed twin sons, Daryl Jr. and John Robert, in June 2009.
