BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - The UAB women's basketball team will jump into its Conference USA schedule Sunday by hosting the Memphis Lady Tigers in a 2:00 p.m. matchup at Bartow Arena.

UAB and Memphis will be meeting for the 39th time Sunday, with the Lady Tigers holding a 24-14 advantage in the all-time series. The Blazers have had the upper-hand against the Lady Tigers recently, having won the past four meetings, including an 84-77 win in Bartow Arena a season ago.

The Blazers are holding a 4-9 record and are looking to get back on the winning track as they open up league play. UAB, which has the nation's 11th toughest schedule in the latest Jeff Sagarin/Collegiate Basketball News' RPI ratings on Jan. 1, has dropped its last two outings against Florida State and Mississippi State.

UAB is paced in points, rebounds and assists by senior guard/forward Diamond Rogers. Rogers is leading UAB and Conference USA with 17.2 ppg, while also adding a team-best 7.6 rebounds and 3.6 assists per outing.

Senior guard Crystal McFadden, a two-time C-USA Player of the Week this season, has tallied eight double-digit scoring games this season while averaging 13.1 ppg. Junior guard Britney Jones is putting up 11.2 ppg, 3.3 rpg and leading the Blazers in steals with 2.7 per game.

Memphis enters Sunday's game at UAB with an overall record of 10-3, including a 0-3 mark in road games. The Lady Tigers are coming off back-to-back overtime losses to Arkansas-Pine Bluff, 99-97, and most-recently Toledo, 71-68.

Memphis has four players averaging double figures this season, led by junior guard Paris Leonard with 13.8 ppg. Junior post player Ashley Thornton is adding 11.8 ppg and a team-high 8.0 rpg. Junior guard Jessica Hall and junior post Jessica Jackson are contributing 11.4 and 10.3 ppg, respectively.

Sunday's game will serve as Take A Kid To The Game Day, where all youth will receive free admission with the purchase of a full-priced adult ticket.
