Diamond Rogers Named Conference USA's Co-Player Of The Week

Jan. 14, 2008

BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB women's basketball player Diamond Rogers has been honored as one of Conference USA's Co-Players Of The Week, announced the league office Monday. This is Rogers' first C-USA Player of the Week honor this season and second of her career.

The senior guard/forward posted back-to-back double-doubles, averaging 19.5 points and 13.5 rebounds per game last week, to help the Blazers win a pair of overtime games and move to 3-0 in conference play.

Rogers scored 19 points and grabbed 15 boards in the team's 84-77 overtime win over East Carolina last Thursday, and followed that with a 20-point, 12-rebound performance in the Blazers' 79-64 victory against Marshall in overtime this past Saturday.

The Jackson, Miss., native was clutch in the overtime win over Marshall, scoring 10 of her 20 points in the extra period.

Rogers currently leads the league in scoring, averaging 17.7 ppg and ranks ninth in assists per game with 3.44.

Rogers shares the weekly accolade with UTEP's Jareica Hughes, who shot 90.0 percent to score 23 points in the Miners' win over Tulane last Saturday.
