BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - Amanda Peterson, a freshman guard on the UAB women's basketball team, has been named this week's UAB Scholar-Athlete of the Week. Peterson has played in all eight of the Blazers' games this season and is shooting better than 40 percent from three-point land.

A native of Homewood, Ala., Peterson is averaging 3.9 points and 1.6 rebounds per game this season. She also has four blocks and four steals on the campaign.

In addition to her efforts on the hardwood, Peterson has excelled in the classroom at UAB after graduating from Homewood High School with honors, in addition to being a member of the National Honor Society.

Peterson is undecided on a major at UAB.
