Dec. 24, 2007
BIRMINGHAM, Ala. - UAB women's basketball senior guard Crystal McFadden earned her second Conference USA Player of the Week honor this season, announced the league office Monday, after she was named the Most Valuable Player of the Blazer Invitational tournament last week. McFadden racked up 28 points and 14 rebounds in two games of the Blazer Invitational, including 19 points in the championship game victory over St. John's last Tuesday. She also flirted with a double-double with nine points and nine rebounds in UAB's opening round victory over Delaware State last Monday. In last Thursday's game against Florida State, McFadden racked up 13 points and had seven rebounds plus an assist and steal in 35 minutes of play. McFadden shot over 40 percent over three games and averaged 13.7 points and 7.0 rebounds per game. The senior currently leads UAB in overall shooting percentage at .418 and continues to be one of the best free throw shooters in Conference USA, sinking 83.3 percent of her shots from the charity stripe, which is fifth-best in the league. She also ranks 12th in C-USA scoring with 12.8 ppg. This is McFadden's second career C-USA Player of the Week honor.
