Women's Golf In Ninth After Day One Of Lady Jaguar Invitational

MOBILE, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team compiled a score of 316 to sit in ninth place out of 18 teams after day one of the Lady Jaguar Invitational, hosted by South Alabama at the Azalea City Golf Club. Freshman Jaime Brabb led the Blazers with a 74 to place her in a tie for fourth in the individual standings. "I thought we played good today," said UAB head coach Kim Wilcox. "It was tough conditions on the course today with the wind. This was our first tournament of the spring season and we really focused and played well." East Tennessee State is leading the tournament with a score of 301. Southern Miss is second after shooting a 308, followed by Lamar and Belmont tied for third at 311. Brabb shot 37 on the front and back nine to lead the Blazers with a first-round score of 74, which puts her in a tie for fourth place overall. Junior Christina Wentworth carded a 79 to tie for 32nd place, while sophomore Carolyn Cochran is tied for 39th with a score of 80. Junior Alyson Mitchell shot an 83 to tie for 63rd and freshman Lindsay Taylor scored an 84 to tie for 70th after the first day of competition. UAB will conclude its competition at the Lady Jaguar Invitational on Tuesday.
