Blazers Finish Day One Of Lady Jaguar Invitational In Sixth Place

MOBILE, Ala. ----- The UAB women's golf team is currently in sixth place after the first day of the Lady Jaguar Invitational, hosted by the University of South Alabama. The Blazers shot a cumulative score of 305 at the par-72, Azalea City Golf Course, to sit in sixth out of 20 teams after round one. Middle Tennessee State is leading the pack with a first-round score of 299, followed by Jacksonville State in second (301) and Winthrop and Lamar tied for third with 15-over par score of 303. Freshman Carolyn Cochran is leading the Blazer effort on day one, shooting an even-par round of 72 to sit in third place overall. Samford's Katelyn Stanier is leading the individual standings with a round-one score of 69. Senior Jennifer Head has recorded a two-over 74 to tie for eighth place, while sophomore Alyson Mitchell is seven-over par (79) to sit in 58th for the Blazers. Senior Martha Hudson shot an 80 and sophomore Christina Wentworth tallied an 84 to hold 66th and 91st places, respectively, going into the final day of competition. The second, and final day of the Lady Jaguar Invitational will be held on Tuesday.
