ONEONTA, Ala. - The UAB women's golf team finished Tuesday's second round of the Conference USA Women's Golf Championship in ninth place with a total of 655. The final round of competition will be held on Wednesday at Limestone Springs Golf Club in Oneonta, Ala.

Memphis, who was in fourth place after day one, shot a 297 on day two to move into first place with a combined score of 607. UTEP sits in second at 610 and UCF and East Carolina are tied for the third spot at 616.

SMU slipped from first to fifth on Tuesday, carding a two-round score of 617, while Tulsa and Marshall are sixth and seventh, respectively, with marks of 625 and 648. Southern Miss is in eighth place at 649 and UAB stands in ninth with a total of 655.

The Blazers are being led by freshman Carolyn Cochran, who is tied for 18th place with a two-round total of 157. Senior Jennifer Head is tied for 21st with a score of 159 and senior Martha Hudson is tied for 40th at 168.

Sophomore Christina Wentworth has tallied a score of 174 to sit in 43rd and sophomore Alyson Mitchell is in the 44th position with a two-day mark of 179.

 

 

UTEP's Gerina Mendoza continues to extend her lead in the individual race, carding back-to-back rounds of 68 for a total of 136 (-8). Stacey Tate of Memphis is in second at even par (144) and SMU's Kate Ackerson is holding the third spot at 148.

The final round of the 2007 C-USA Women's Golf Championship will tee off at 8 a.m. on Wednesday morning, with the team and individual awards presentation immediately following.
